Making Your First Deposit

Deposits are the foundation of your Crowd.Credit account. They earn yield, establish your credit capacity, and build your on-chain reputation.

Deposit Flow​

Step 1: Select Token and Amount​

From the Dashboard, click Deposit. Select the token you want to deposit and enter the amount. The interface shows:

  • Current wallet balance
  • Minimum deposit amount
  • Estimated gas fee
  • Your new collateral value after deposit

Step 2: Approve Token Spend (ERC-20 only)​

For ERC-20 tokens (USDC, USDT, DAI, wstETH), you must first approve the DepositVault contract to spend your tokens. This is a one-time approval per token.

You can choose between:

  • Exact approval -- Approve only the deposit amount (more secure, requires re-approval each time)
  • Unlimited approval -- Approve once for unlimited deposits (more convenient, standard practice)

Step 3: Confirm Deposit​

Review the deposit details and confirm the transaction in your wallet. The deposit is processed in a single transaction:

  1. Tokens are transferred from your wallet to the DepositVault contract
  2. Your deposit balance is recorded on-chain
  3. The YieldRouter automatically allocates your deposit to yield strategies
  4. Your Crowd.Credit dashboard updates in real-time via WebSocket

Step 4: Yield Starts Accruing​

Your deposit begins earning yield immediately. The current yield allocation is:

  • 65% to you (the depositor)
  • 35% platform fee (covers operations, insurance fund, protocol development)

Gas Optimization​

  • Polygon and Base offer the lowest gas fees (typically under $0.01)
  • Arbitrum and Optimism are also cost-effective (typically $0.05-$0.50)
  • Ethereum mainnet gas varies; the UI shows a real-time estimate before confirmation

What Happens to My Deposit?​

Your deposited tokens are held in the DepositVault smart contract. From there:

  1. The YieldRouter allocates tokens to vetted DeFi protocols (Aave, Lido, Compound)
  2. Yield is harvested periodically and credited to your account
  3. Your deposits serve as collateral for your credit line
  4. You can withdraw at any time, subject to any outstanding credit balance
